Insurance information for billing

Patients whose insurance follows Medicare guidelines must either have a permanent Colostomy, Urostomy, or Ileostomy (or a combination therein, if multiple stomas).

  • Medicare defines “permanence” as a condition expected to last greater than 90 days.
  • We areunable to provide supplies for a patient’s fistulas, if present, as this is considered under the umbrella of wound care.

Patients whose insurance does not follow Medicare guidelines are subject to the medical coverage criteria of their respective insurer. The patient must still have an Ostomy related condition, with a surgical stoma, documented within their medical record to qualify for Ostomy Supplies.

To provide the patient with a Hernia Belt, the patient’s medical record must detail the patient actively having a hernia. These chart notes will need to be provided prior to the order being dispensed.
