1-Piece Pouch
These ostomy solutions consist of a skin barrier and pouch joined as a single unit. These solutions can offer more discretion and flexibility for the user.
2-Piece Pouch
Keeping the skin barrier/wafer and pouch separate allows an individual to change pouches while keeping the barrier attached to the skin. Different styles of pouches can be attached to the skin barrier/wafer without having to remove the skin barrier/wafer adhered to your skin. Using a two-piece system also allows for more frequent pouch-only changes.
Barriers
Also called a skin barrier or a wafer, skin barriers are the piece of a pouch system that sticks and attaches to your body and around your stoma. It has adhesive on one side to stick onto your skin around your stoma. The other side is designed to have a pouch attached to it.
